Privacy Policy

clay. (“clay.”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Califica. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. clay. is a service that connects tennis players to find and play matches.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

• Account: your email address (for passwordless sign-in) or your Google or Apple account identifier if you sign in with them.
• Profile: name, profile/player photo, level, gender, age, height, weight, birthplace, dominant hand, backhand, optional Instagram handle, and bio.
• Phone number:used so a matched opponent can call you to coordinate (see “How information is shared”).
• Match data: posts, the matches you join, scores you log and confirm, head-to-head history, and mutual reviews (punctuality, level accuracy, optional comments).
• Approximate location: with your permission, we use your device location to detect your city so we can show matches near you. We use approximate location, not continuous tracking.
• Technical data: basic data needed to operate and secure the app (e.g., authentication tokens). If we enable crash or analytics tools in the future, we will update this policy.

How we use information

• Create and manage your account and player profile and card.
• Match you with opponents at your level and let you coordinate matches.
• Record results, reviews and rankings, and build your reputation.
• Show courts and matches near your city.
• Keep clay. safe, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests.

How information is shared

• With other players: your profile, player card, level, record and reviews are visible to other users. Your phone number is shared with an opponent only after you both accept a match — it never appears in the public feed.
• Service providers: we host data and run core features through Supabase (database, auth, storage) and use Google Maps and OpenStreetMap to show courts. Push notifications are delivered via Expo/Apple/Google. These providers process data on our behalf.
• Legal: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
• We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for cross-app advertising tracking.

Your choices and rights

• Edit your profile any time in the app.
• Delete your account: Settings → Delete my account permanently removes your profile, match history and reviews. You can also email us at arturo@califica.ai.
• Location: you can deny or revoke the location permission in your device settings; the city feed will fall back to manual selection.
• Depending on where you live (e.g., GDPR/CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your data, or object to processing. Contact us to exercise them.

Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data, except where we must keep it to meet legal obligations.

Children

clay. is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us.

Security

We protect data with industry-standard measures and encrypt it in transit. No method is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date.
